Furthermore, you can watch information videos on various topics (The videos are only available in German) from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science! (StudServ account, Stud.IP, dates, etc.)

Orientation Units in the Winter Semester
The Dean's Office and the Subject Group Council host introductory events for first-year students in the field of Computer Science and Computer Engineering parallel to the preparatory Mathematics Foundation Course. These orientation units (OE) are meant to provide first-year students (affectionately called "Ersies") an initial orientation for their studies and university life.
The events, organized by the Subject Group Council Computer Science and the Dean's Office of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, mostly start in the second half of the Mathematics Foundation Course. The tutors and members of the Subject Group Council want to meet you beforehand, so representatives will be present at each OE café to answer all your questions. The OE cafés will take place during the prep course breaks between lectures/exercises.
The OEs are not mandatory, but they really help ease your start into university life!
OE Café
An OE café is offered parallel to the preparatory courses. In the breaks of your preparatory course, the first-year tutors will collect you. The café takes place at Appelstr. 4 next to the MMH (Room 023, Building 3703).
The OE café is an initiative by the Dean's Office and the Subject Group Council, where you can meet your first-year tutors, Subject Group Council members, and other Ersies. There will be coffee, cookies, and other beverages for you. You can also ask us your initial questions there.
You can find information about the start and process of the preparatory course here.
We are looking forward to meeting you!

We want to show you the most important points of contact and important places on the university campus. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to get to know your new fellow students better through fun little games. Specific information about the rally will be announced by your OE tutors.
First-Year Trip 07. – 09.11.2025
During the first-year trip ("Ersiefahrt"), tutors and students go to a country house to offer a weekend of important and interesting workshops where you can get to know each other better, have fun together, and also learn something. You will also find further information from your tutors and during the preparatory course or in the introductory study event on StudIP.
