What is Stud.IP?
Stud.IP is the platform where you can register for courses at the university. You will receive announcements, scripts, and can use a forum to interact. Registering for a course on Stud.IP does not count as registering for the exam. You need to do that through QIS.
You can activate your Stud.IP account via the Account Manager. You will receive the login information in a letter after your enrollment. A short introductory video on using the Account Manager and Stud.IP can be found on the Faculty's page. The first thing you should do as a freshman on Stud.IP is enroll in the introductory study group ("Studiengänge Informatik, Technische Informatik, Lehramt Informatik Start WiSe 20XX/XX"). There you can also select your first tutor. If you want to get to know Stud.IP a little better:
Overview
Homepage
When you log into Stud.IP, you start here (by default). In the middle, you see an overview of your upcoming appointments - but note that this may also include appointments from other groups of a group exercise. From the homepage, you can also navigate to other areas:

Courses
Arguably the most important area in Stud.IP. Here you see an overview of your courses. On the left, you can filter by semesters, sort courses into different color groups, or change the view. Clicking on the name of a course will take you to its overview page. Additionally, there are a number of icons next to the name that take you directly to the corresponding area in the course. Red icons indicate new content, and clicking on them will take you to an overview of the new content (this is especially useful for files and forum posts). The icons mean (from left to right):

- Current announcements
- Schedule
- Files
- Online meetings
- Forum: If you have organizational or substantive questions about a course, this is usually the right place to start. Posts are sorted into topics and threads and can be read and answered by all participants in the course.
- Blubber: Here too you can communicate with people from the course, but posts cannot be sorted thematically and disappear after some time. Therefore, blubber should be used for short-term questions, such as "Isn't it happening today? I'm standing in front of an empty room..." or "Am I the only one for whom BBB is down" and "What's the password for the online exam now?"
- Wiki (usually empty)
- Participants: Here you can usually register for exercise groups. Go to groups on the left to switch the view, then you can join via the door symbol on the right - if your chosen group is already activated and not yet full. You can also send a message to all members of a group (via the three dots on the right). Note: Often, registration for exercise groups is activated at a specific time. It is advisable to be online at that time - experience shows that the best exercise slots are quickly booked
- Ongoing and published surveys
- Recordings
- Individually created info pages by the instructor
- Details and exit from the course
Workplace
For students, only the sub-area "Files" is relevant here. Here you see all the files you have access to - but not sorted by course. This area is particularly useful for listing all the files you have uploaded yourself - including personal files that are not assigned to any course. Note: If you want to store larger folders or files online, or share them (e.g., via a link), consider using the Uni's Seafile or the File Storage of the Subject Group Council
OER Campus
It is new. It is intended to provide teaching materials. Currently, there's nothing exciting here. To be continued...
Messages
Here you see all the messages that have been sent to you via StudIP. By default, each message is also sent as a copy to your student email address. Additionally, you can send new messages here.
Community
For the sociable among you. Here you can search for and join study groups and create an address book. You also have access to all your blubber streams, including the global blubber (for which you can also disable notifications here). Additionally, you'll find the famous Stud.IP leaderboard here - earn points and become a legend!
Profile
Here you can admire your profile and set numerous settings.
Planner
Keep track! Here you initially see all appointments for all your courses. Using the eye icon in the upper right of an entry, you can hide it. If you make a mistake, you can temporarily display all hidden courses on the left to switch the desired appointment back to visible. You can also change the color and display size of the entries and create new ones. If you are particularly proud of the result (or don't want to memorize your schedule), you can also export the planner as a print version, print it out, and hang it on your fridge.
Quick Search
Here you can quickly search courses, messages, and people by keywords. However, you cannot filter the results, and a maximum of three are displayed per category. Therefore, the global search (next paragraph) is better suited for a detailed search.
(global) Search
The better search. Here you can filter the results by category and semester, and all results can be displayed here.
Notice Board
Here you will find advertised student assistant jobs and theses, event tips, tutoring requests and offers, as well as the usual classifieds; you can also post your own - but read the general notes first!
Notifications
Here you will be shown StudIP notifications. These include not only received messages but also replies and received "Likes" on forum posts, as well as new blubber posts.
Profile / Settings / Logout
If you want, you can also exit StudIP - after all, it's not Vim.
